Human Resources Manager

Home & Things is seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to join their team. This role encompasses the full spectrum of Human Resources management, focusing on both operational and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and staff development. In addition to administrative oversight of documentation, records, and contracts, the HR Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping company culture, driving employee engagement, and ensuring strict adherence to Jamaican labor laws and employment best practices. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively bridge the gap between management goals and employee relations, ensuring that HR practices are not only compliant but also optimized for the needs of a retail environment.

• Manage recruitment, including but not limited to: sourcing, interviewing, hiring and onboarding of employees
• Manage staff issues including disciplinary matters, performance, conflict resolution and terminations.
• Govern employee records, contracts, attendance, leave and other HR documentation in accordance with company standards and procedures
• Implement, enforce and maintain company policies and procedures.
• Manage the employee performance assessment process.
• Work with Managers and Supervisors on staff performance and planning.
• Coordinate staff training and development.
• Prepare monthly reports for Accounts and other necessary departments.
• Develop and execute plans for employee morale, engagement and company culture initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Jamaican labour laws and employment practices.
• Recommend, construct and implement improvements to HR practices and procedures.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related discipline., At least 5 years' experience in Human Resources at a managerial or senior level., Strong knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and HR practices., Excellent interpersonal and communication skills., Outstanding planning, organizational and time management skills., Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills., A high level of confidentiality., Ability to take initiative and execute plans., Experience in the retail industry would be an asset.
