You do not need a resume to get hired. You need to be found.
If a blank resume is the wall between you and work, the resume was never the point. Being findable is.
Most job advice in the Caribbean starts with the same instruction. Fix your resume. Format it properly. Add a professional summary. That advice quietly locks out the people who need work the most.
If you are a student with no work history, a school leaver looking for your first job, or a skilled worker who never collected a single certificate, a blank resume is not a small problem. It is the whole wall. You cannot format experience you have not had yet. So you either invent something, or you give up before you start.
Here is what I have come to believe after building a hiring platform for this region. The resume is not the point. Being findable is the point. An employer in St. Ann who needs three servers by the weekend is not sitting down to read cover letters. They need to know who is available, where they are, and whether they can start. That is it.
This is why we built the talent pool the way we did. You create a profile in minutes. You say what work you want, where you are, when you can start, and what you are good at. If you have photos of your work, a plate you cooked, a wall you built, a head you styled, you add them. If you would rather talk than write, you drop a short video. No resume required, and no penalty for not having one.
The workers who win in a thin market are not the ones with the prettiest documents. They are the ones an employer can actually find on the day they are hiring. Make yourself findable. The paperwork can come later.
