About the Role
Crichton Group is hiring a Junior Accountant for their team in Kingston, Jamaica. This role is an entry-level accounting position focused on financial and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be expected to utilize their knowledge of accounting principles, inventory management, and tax reporting, specifically GCT and statutory returns, to assist with the company's financial operations. The role requires someone who is organized, proficient in modern accounting software, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with an immediate start date availability. Crichton Group is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Junior Accountant to join our team in Kingston, Jamaica. We are looking for someone with a solid accounting foundation who is also administratively capable, organized, and comfortable supporting the day-to-day business operations of the Group.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and process accounting transactions. - Perform bank reconciliations and assist with the preparation of financial reports. - Manage and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. - Prepare and maintain GCT and other statutory returns. - Maintain and reconcile inventory accounting records, including inventory movements, costs, and balances. - Process and maintain accounting records using QuickBooks Online. - Assist with budgeting, audits, month-end and year-end accounting processes. - Prepare schedules, reports, supporting documentation, and other financial information as required. - Maintain organized physical and electronic financial records. - Assist with general administrative and business support activities as required. - Liaise with suppliers, financial institutions, service providers, and other stakeholders as required. - Support management with financial, administrative, and operational information. - Maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy in handling financial and business information.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required. Practical working knowledge of GCT and statutory returns. Working knowledge of inventory accounting. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Strong Excel and general computer skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical, communication, and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Previous experience in insurance, financial services, or a multi-business environment would be an advantage. Must be available to start immediately.
