Head of Research and Innovation

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) invites suitably qualified persons to enlist in the JDF as a Professional Entry Officer (PEO), to fill the position of Head of Research and Innovation for the Caribbean Military Academy. This is a specialized role focused on leading research initiatives, driving research transformation, and developing strategies aligned with institutional goals. The successful candidate will oversee research projects from design through to execution, ensure research governance, and manage grant funding applications.

Drive research transformation initiatives, Develop research projects from design to execution, Manage research governance and integrity including intellectual property rights, Manipulate, summarise and produce reports from multiple large, complex data sets, Manage grant funding applications, Develop long-term research and innovation strategies aligned with institutional goals.

Be a citizen of the Commonwealth, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Post Graduate Degree in Research and Development or its equivalent (PhD preferred), A Research-based Masters Degree with relevant experience will be considered, A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position or strong related research position, A strong background in product development or strategy would be an asset, Experience in writing research proposals for grant funding is a distinct asset, Experience in developing research projects from design to execution.
